The Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course is a unique continuing education program created in recognition of the real need in EMS education for additional training in the handling of trauma patients.  This program is designed to enhance and increase knowledge and skill in delivering critical care in the pre-hospital environment.   In the program, participants will learn to identify mechanism of injury; recognize life-threatening injuries; relate pathophysiology to injuries; assess and manage trauma patients; and, perform appropriate interventions.  Included in the program, there are skill stations where the participants will practice the skills and techniques taught.  To successfully complete the program, participants must pass both a practical and written examinations.

CEU's: 16 hrs

Registration fee covers all refreshments, lunches, and handouts. Refund policy is as follows.  Individuals who cancel prior to the registration deadline of Wednesday, February 1 will receive a total refund.  No refunds or cancellations after February 16 will be given.  If you need to cancel, you can substitute another individual.  The Council must be notified immediately.  No shows at the seminar will receive no refunds. A block of rooms have been reserved for the seminar’s participants at the Comfort Inn, 710 South U.S. Highway 11/15, Selinsgrove.   The rates are: $70.00 single/double/triple occupancy.  Please call the Comfort Inn at (570) 374-8880.  Please tell the staff that you are attending the Spring 2006 EMS Seminar offered by the Susquehanna E.H.S. Council, Inc.  Cut off date for making room reservations is February 22^nd.  Remember, you are responsible for any and all room charges.

EMS Awards Banquet
 Everyone is invited to the EMS Awards Banquet that will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Front Street Station in Northumberland, Pennsylvania.  A. J. Heightman MPA EMT-P, Editor-in-Chief, JEMS, will be the guest speaker. The cost is $20.00 per person which includes a hot buffet dinner and an evening of fun.  To make a reservation, please include $20.00 per person with your payment for the seminar.  The evening’s activities will start at 6:00 p.m. with a cash bar with dinner at 7:00 p.m.
