Healthcare Provider
- Designed to teach the techniques of CPR and foreign body airway
obstruction (FBAO) for victims of all ages—Adults, Infants and Children.
Additional skill performances include: ventilation with a barrier device,
bag-mask device and oxygen, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
It is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide
variety of situations, including, in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
Practical and written evaluations are administered as part of this program and
successful candidates receive a course completion card with a recommended
two-year renewal. This course complies with newly released AHA CPR
Guidelines 2005.
COURSE COST: $25.00 w/Manual Initial Class, $21.00 Renewal
Friends & Family/Heartsaver -
Lay rescuers, family members, school children and
other individuals who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones are the target
audience for this program. Details about the AHA Chain of Survival,
recognition of a heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking in adults are
covered along with information on recognition and management of pediatric
(infant and child) choking and cardiac arrest victims. Prevention of sudden
infant death syndrome and prevention of most common fatal injuries in children
is also covered. At the conclusion of the course, participants will
be able to demonstrate the following skills on an adult, infant or child manikin
and telephone: (1) phone 911; (2) rescue breathing; (3) one-rescuer CPR; and (4)
relief of a foreign body airway obstruction.
